Grazie Mille Signore Michelin! Spiaggia is thrilled to be included in the 2013 Chicago issue.
"There is no better Italian restaurant in America than Spiaggia; Tony Mantuano has always been committed to the truest flavors and finest pairings of wine for his extraordinary cuisine."
-John Mariani, food and travel correspondent for Esquire magazine and author of The Dictionary of Italian Food and Drink
Since opening to great fanfare in 1984, Spiaggia has set the tone for Italian fine dining in Chicago and in the United States. A favorite Michigan Avenue restaurant of critics and patrons alike, this timeless four-star restaurant celebrates the cuisine of Chef/Partner Tony Mantuano, who creates luxurious, world-class Italian cuisine showcasing the finest ingredients presented with simple elegance. The award-winning wine list, impeccable service, spectacular view and sophisticated, contemporary setting contribute to Spiaggia's universal regard as a premier, authentic Italian dining destination.
As a reflection of his continued commitment to expanding the landscape of Italian fine dining, Mantuano seeks and develops cultural relationships with some of the finest olive vineyards, family cheese artisans and wine producers in Italy to bring generations of the finest Italian products stateside.
Spiaggia continues to receive prestigious accolades representative of its ongoing pursuit of elegance in fine food and service. In a 2009 article, Wall Street Journal dining critic Raymond Sokolov reaffirmed Spiaggia as one of the country's best Italian restaurants, "Yes, Spiaggia commands our allegiance with its luxury setting, service and raw materials. Perhaps it's impossible to factor out all the special ingredients-the black truffle, the handcrafted pasta, the wild arugula from the chef's garden-and the rest of Spiaggia's wowness."
Spiaggia received the James Beard Foundation nomination for Outstanding Restaurant in America in 2006, 2007 and 2010 and for Outstanding Service in 2008 and 2009.
